Residents of Grain Valley,

My name is Michael Todd and as a lifelong resident of Grain Valley I have seen many changes come to our town. Some of these changes have been for the better, while it can be argued that some have not been. Grain Valley is a town that I love and I’m thrilled to represent you as your mayor.

People ask me all the time what possessed me to run for Mayor in the first place. For me the decision was easy. My parents made the decision over 30 years ago to raise me here just like my mom (Carol Peal) had been raised here. My wife, Tosha and I have made the same to raise our newborn daughter Harper here. I want Harper to remember all the great things that I remember and more. I want her to know how it feels to grow up in a smaller community where people still care. Some will argue that we have lost that small town feel as we have grown, but I think we still have it. As a community, we need to work a bit harder in letting others feel it especially our newer residents. We need to welcome everyone with open arms and show them how great Grain Valley is.

As Mayor, I continue to work towards:

Making sure our “small town” feel is kept in consideration when making decisions, while at the same time giving the residents of our town a voice in those decisions.

Finding additional ways to get more feedback from our citizens along with better ways for us to communicate with the residents.

Recognizing and helping out local businesses. We want our businesses to stay in Grain Valley and not have to move elsewhere or shut their doors.

Better relationships between the Board of Alderman and other entities within the city like the School District and the Chamber of Commerce.

Most importantly making sure Grain Valley continues to be a great place to raise a family. We can do this by working to make it more affordable for residents to live here. We also make sure our government services are meeting the needs of the people along with keeping our community safe for all.
